Missoula County supports HB 269: Establish a local disaster resiliency fund, which is up for second reading today in the House State Administration committee.
This bill would help local jurisdictions access funds to meet the 25% match requirement for mitigation grants provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Missoula County applies for FEMA grants to perform mitigation techniques regarding flooding and wildfire in our community. If the local disaster resiliency fund is created through this bill, Missoula County and other jurisdictions would be able to access this fund for their 25% match for FEMA grants.
