Missoula County opposes HB 293: Generally revise alternative nicotine and vapor product laws relating to tobacco, up for hearing at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow, Feb. 2, in the House Business and Labor Committee. Specifically, we oppose removing alternative nicotine and vapor products from tobacco regulation. Nicotine products and vapor products should remain under the umbrella of tobacco regulation, because if they were removed, then there would be no regulation for these products. This bill also removes these products from a local government's ability to include them in local tobacco ordinances.
Missoula County supports SB 293, Revise transportation laws related to invasive species, up for hearing at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, in the Senate Fish and Game Committee. SB 293 helps the mission of Missoula County’s Extension Office, specifically the weed district and aquatic invasive species district, by requiring the Montana Department of Transportation post information at rest areas on how to prevent the movement of invasive species that could negatively impact Montana’s economy and environment. These include potential forest pests moved in firewood, aquatic invasive species on boats and other water recreation equipment and terrestrial weed species on vehicles.
Missoula County opposes, as amended, HB 293: Generally revise alternative nicotine and vapor product laws relating to tobacco, up for second reading on the House floor this afternoon. Nicotine products and vapor products should remain under the umbrella of tobacco regulation. This bill also removes these products from a local government's ability to include them in local tobacco ordinances.
