SB 184 creates significant barriers for requesting continuances, even when a continuance would help address the needs of both parties and the courts. Many times during proceedings, either the party or the court may need to request a continuance for a variety of reasons to achieve to the best outcome for all parties. Removal of this discretion will result in reduced quality of outcomes for some of our most vulnerable residents, including children.
