Missoula County strongly opposes SB 204, Generally revise DUI laws, scheduled for hearing Tuesday morning in Senate Judiciary. This bill would make it very difficult to prosecute and convict DUIs when a drunk driver is found passed out other otherwise incapacitated after driving under the influence, even if they drove off the road or crashed into another car. Missoula County frequently prosecutes drunk drivers who were found passed out at the wheel after after they drove somewhere, and this bill would make it harder to get those drivers off the road and to the help they need. It is not in the best interest of community safety or enforcement of drunk driving.
