Missoula County supports, as amended, HB 649: Implement rates from provider rate study, up for second reading on the House floor this afternoon. This bill would establish Medicaid reimbursement rate increases for providers. Currently, Medicaid provider reimbursement rates are significantly less than other payer sources. This has resulted in the closure of many nursing homes, nursing facility beds and crisis beds due to a lack of reimbursement. If providers cannot be reimbursed at a reasonable rate for services, they will stop being able to provide the services, which will create a significant gap in care.
