Missoula County opposes HB 513: Require consideration of harm of removal in child abuse and neglect cases, up for hearing at 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20 in the House Human Services Committee.
This bill would require a warrant or judicial approval and an emergency hearing before removing a child from suspected abuse or neglect. Child and Family Services and the courts already consider the prospect of harm and the child’s wellbeing in abuse or neglect proceedings. This bill would add redundant or unnecessary burdens to this process.
Missoula County opposes HB 513 as amended: Require consideration of harm of removal in child abuse and neglect cases, up for second reading today on the House floor.
