    Senators,

    Missoula County supports SB 275, Revise definitions of proposed mixing zone and well isolation zone, up on the Senate floor this afternoon. When these terms were first defined in law in 2019, it created an unintended consequence of requiring property owners to ask their neighbors for easements for existing wells and drainfields that were exempt from easement requirements when installed but subject to the law later if they divided their property. This change simplifies the definitions and maintains protections for neighboring properties for new facilities proposed during sanitation and subdivision review.
