Missoula County supports SB 293, Revise transportation laws related to invasive species, up for hearing at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, in the Senate Fish and Game Committee. SB 293 helps the mission of Missoula County’s Extension Office, specifically the weed district and aquatic invasive species district, by requiring the Montana Department of Transportation post information at rest areas on how to prevent the movement of invasive species that could negatively impact Montana’s economy and environment. These include potential forest pests moved in firewood, aquatic invasive species on boats and other water recreation equipment and terrestrial weed species on vehicles.
